Ahavat
Yisrael Kiddush Procedure and Options
To
streamline the Kiddush process at our shul, the Kiddush Committee has put
together this resource for the congregation to use. We have four Kiddush options to choose
from. The Kiddush service is provided by
volunteers from the shul. Anyone making
a Kiddush has the option of taking care of the Kiddush on their own (option#4)
or adding, on their own, to any of the 3 other options. With the choices presented below the shopping
will be done for you. Any specialty item
added that is not listed below, would have to be purchased by the person on
their own, left in the shul kitchen, and the volunteers will put it out for you
at the Kiddush tables. The money for the
Kiddush would need to be received by our treasurer, Ari Fishkind (362-3837) by
the Monday prior to the Kiddush or Seudat Shelishit (check or credit cards
accepted).
When
planning a kiddush, you would need to call one of our 2 calendar keepers--Susan
Loiterman (354-4486) or Chani Kaminetzky (362-4175). Please call them with as
much advance notice as possible, as shopping needs to be done. If this is a last minute decision, we would
need to know about a hot kiddush by the tuesday night before the kiddush. You would let them know the date and which
of the 4 packages you are choosing. If
you are expecting a particularly large crowd and would need a larger quantity
of the below items, we could order that for an additional fee based on L'Chaim
Manors prices, as listed below under additional items. Susan and Chani would
contact the shoppers (Lenore Gelman, Lori Linzer, and Jennie Jacobson, plus
many other willing volunteers), who will order or purchase the below
items. Again, anything not mentioned
below would need to be purchased separately by you and left in the shul
kitchen.
It is
customary for the Kiddush sponsors to help set up and clean up the
Kiddush. Setup includes placing
necessary items on platters during davening.
Thankfully, there are lots of additional helpers to prepare the tables
after davening and cleaning up afterwards.
(By the way, the sweeper is being kept in the garage near the paper
goods, as kids have broken them before when left in the coatroom.)
