Like a beautiful kaleidoscope, the members of Ahavat Yisrael are a blend of different people from various walks of life, all unifying together to create a multi-faceted, warm and welcoming neighborhood shul.

Rabbi Asher Bush, our caring and dynamic spiritual leader, has Yadin Yadin S'micha and a Masters in Jewish Education. He effortlessly divides his time between being an educator at the Frisch High School, a mashgiach in Riverdale, as well as availing himself to his Kehilla and the entire community at large.

In addition to the dual minyanim on shabbat morning, our modern orthodox, family - oriented programming offers a youth minyan for children ages five to 13. Often led by one of a variety of volunteers, the minyan allows the children to actively participate in davening, and enjoy a private kiddush, as well.

With children of all ages, Ahavat Yisrael offers programming throughout the year to elevate and celebrate each of the chagim; Sukkah decoration parties, falafel dinners for Yom Ha'atzmaut, and Chanuka magic shows replete with latkes, gelt, and sufganiyot to name a few. Additionally, the very, warm and highly energetic Sisterhood offers events that range from Book Club meetings to Tehillim groups, to chinese auctions and field trips.
